Blake's ideas on the Poetic Genius are similar to the Freudian idea of the Id, Ego, and Super Ego. In his poem, he says that "Likewise that the forms of all things are derived from their Genius, / which by the Ancients was call’d an Angel & Spirit & Demon. " The Id is the Demon, the Ego is the Spirit, and the Super Ego is the Angel. All of these form come together to create the Poetic Genius.
